What... Arizona you say?? Yes I realize that Arizona would not be
considered local to our Nor-Cal neighborhood, but it is close enough and
important enough to take top spot. It seems Arizona has decided
to try, once
again, to follow the CA lead and register ohv's. Theres just "too much illegal
riding going on out there" so, once again the state legislature is trying to
license them. They are taking cues from our model which, in the past, has not
been the best in my opinion. Intentions are to make an OHV fund and split it up
between various agencys to maintain and designate trails, close trails,
enforcement and training of atv users to know where to ride. All I can say is
"The last frontier is now closing". More government intervention is never a good
thing. Lets keep our eyes peeled and if you would like to check out the proposed
legislation yourself you can find it here.
Safety? I know its just one word. But to me it says it all. With all the recent bad news we've had in our sport from all over it's time we all should look at ourselves and ask the question...."Is It Safe?" Now more than ever you need to go over your ride, make sure its tight and safe and look at yourself and make sure you are safe. Remember all it takes is one small mishap to go wrong and you could be in a world of hurt. Even if you "Adults" decide to take jr's 90 around the yard, Please put your helmet on. I know its a small bike but you could still get killed if it tipped while you slid the turn. So show some responsiblility and accountability and be safe, so others may follow your lead!!
Clean Up News: Hey! once again the Atv and Ohv community comes together to clean up an area. Kudos to them, for showing responsiblility in taking care of the environment. Most of the dumping they clean up is form illegal dumping not OHVers leaving trash. But they take the time to pick up behind others without complaint or fanfare to keep their areas open. Maybe some local environmentalist groups would like to get together and join the ENVIRONMENTALLY FRIENDLY Ohv community in a clean up of public land. If you are interested contact us!
Chidago Canyon Clean up: Located north of Bishop, off-roaders, mc clubs and officials came together to clean up this public land. The story is here.
Calico Clean up: In its 2nd year, off-roaders again with blm officials helped to clean up this area north of Barstow near the historic Calico ghost town. The story it here.
Sonora Encampment: Volunteers helped to clean up a homeless encampment from the folsom blm lands near the town of Sonora. The story is here.
Off-roaders vs. The Marines!
Are you ready to take on the Marines??!! Well they want to take us on! For your information the Marines, who I respect greatly, are attempting to annex out Johnson Valley in So-Cal into the 29 palms military base. As an expansion to the already vast lands at thier disposal the Marines need just a little more room for traing for our boys in Iraq and elsewhere. I am not against the Marines but Johnson Valley has been used by Off-Roaders for ever. I included. Once we let it get away, it will never be used by us again. The full story can be viewed by going here.
