Just a note ....................

Atv's and the future....

All across the country people are riding atv's. Some ride them for sport, some for pleasure and some just to have fun with their family. Whatever the reason it all boils down to one thing... fun!  Some of us on this site race and hey if that is what you like, go for it.

With more and more manufacturers building quads, and getting into the race scene with sponsors we are guaranteed that our sport will continue to grow. With more people getting involved in the sport for whatever their reason that should translate into more pressure on government for more riding opportunities. And more tracks. One thing we can do is to start by putting pressure on our local congressman to pass no net loss legislation. That way if they decide to close some acreage or area they have to open the equivalent acreage in a similar area. Anything would help. But the best thing is that we continue to grow. The more the merrier!!

Is that really it??  I thought Honda was joking when I saw what they have decided to do with the new lineup for 2008. I wonder if they have an infiltrator from another company in the design team that has sabotaged the design.  At over 500 pound the honda 700 is now the heaviest 660 or 700 out there. I guess that means they won that category. Just take a look at it side by side to any other quad and see what you think. The new look is here

One more thing.  With the advent of KTM entering the quad market, the competition just got a little stiffer. KTM has always delivered a quality machine, and now that they are building an atv lets hope that it is as quality as their bikes. I know the price is. Check out the new KTM by going here

Did You Know?.......

About the ca svra agency

"California's off-highway bureaucracy suffers from a dual personality. Environmentalists see it as a conservation agency, tasked with healing scars from illegal off-road use. Off-roaders see it as an agency, funded by their tax dollars, that manages off-highway venues and builds new ones....In 2005, the California State Auditor published a scathing report of the Off-Highway Motor Vehicle Recreation Division of the State Parks department. It detailed an agency stuck between the opposing priorities." Read about it here

Cutting the size of glamis

"Plant habitat slashed?" (Imperial Valley Press, 7/29/07)
"The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed a 5,700-acre cut in land designated to protect a threatened desert plant in the Imperial Valley Sand Dunes Recreation Area. The move is the latest in a seven-year dispute pitting environmental groups against off-road enthusiasts with one of Imperial County’s most critical natural and economic resources -- the sand dunes -- at the center of the debate....In 2000, in the face of a lawsuit then by environmental groups over the plant, the U.S. Bureau of Land Management settled the issue by agreeing to close 48,000 acres of the sand dunes."

How to kill a new track

 "Dirt divide" (Bakersfield Californian, 6/2/07)
"An off-road motor sports park near Bakersfield isn't completely dead -- despite a near-fatal blow delivered by state bureaucrats in December." Just another story of how the government is for the closure of anything that has to do with off road vehicles. Take a look at the full story here.

Another story of off roaders "keeping it clean"

"Taft riders keeping 'secret' spot safe, clean" (Bakersfield Californian, 6/2/07)
"These hills used to be a local secret. Now the secret's out. And the only way the locals can keep their riding area is to prove they can take care of it....The heat of a spring day grew as the club worked. More people showed up. A heavy-duty Bureau of Land Management truck collected heavier objects, such as an ancient Frigidaire refrigerator and a rusted-out washing machine." Includes link to a video of the cleanup. Read about it here.
