Clayton Valley NV

 

 The Clayton Valley sand dunes are located in the southern part of Clayton Valley, seven miles south of Silver Peak, Nevada, and is accessible by a dirt and gravel road. The dunes are 2500 acres, and the highest dune tops out at about 280 feet above the valley floor. This is a very romote dune with very little use. The elevation is 4300 feet.

 

Getting there:

From Tonopah take highway 95 north for 32 miles. South on highway 265 to silver peak. Stay on the main road past the post office and the volunteer fire department. The pavement will end so take the dirt road to the left of the pond towards Oasis. You should see the dunes in the distance. Take the road to the right that parallels the power lines. Drive on this road for 3.6 miles and turn left towards the dunes. Drive three miles towards the dunes and turn right on the dune access road. The staging and camping area is about a mile in.

 

All operators of off-highway vehicles must comply with Nevada laws and regulations when operating on public lands. All terrain vehicles (ATVs) operated on public lands must have a muffler, spark arrester and working headlights and taillights for nighttime use. Children under 16 operating off-highway vehicles must be supervised by an adult.
